FAQ
How much do the Bible courses cost?
The course content we offer is free of charge.
In doing so, we are guided by the contents of the Bible. Jesus taught the words of God for free and Revelation 22:17 also shows about it.
So you don’t pay any money for the lessons with us either, but with offline courses there are costs for room rent, heating, electricity, technology, snacks during breaks, etc. The online courses incur costs for Zoom Pro accounts, electricity, camera, technology, etc. These costs are partially covered by a small one-time course fee.
Some people erroneously claim that you have to pay a lot of money in Shincheonji to take part in the courses.
Why does Shincheonji only read the Elberfeld Bible?
The Elberfeld Bible is a German Bible translation that was first published in 1855 and 1871. We, the Shincheonji Congregation of Jesus in Germany, use the Elberfeld Bible because of its conceptual translation and faithfulness to the text. The literalness of the translation takes precedence over linguistic beauty. Due to the processing of the text according to modern usage, it often happens that the text has a certain distance from the original texts and their meanings. We use the Elberfeld Bible in order to understand the Bible as closely as possible to the source text. Many people find the Bible difficult to understand. This is not because the terms are too old or the terms are too difficult to understand, but because one does not know the law of the Bible. For this reason we recommend reading the Elberfeld Bible, which better expresses the will of God.
Why are parables taught in Shincheonji?
Parables were a vehicle Jesus used to express Himself about 2,000 years ago. Once his disciples asked him, "Why do you speak to them in parables?" (Mt 13:10). Mt 13:34 even says that Jesus spoke to the crowds in parables and said nothing to them without parables. Matthew 13:36 says that Jesus explained the parables to his disciples after the crowd left him. He explained to them what the seed means, what the field means and what time symbolizes the time of harvest, etc. Then he said that until then he could only speak in figures, that is, in parables, but later the hour will come when he will no longer speak in parables, but will proclaim openly about the Father. So he promised that there would come a time when the parables would be openly taught to every human being. So shouldn't one listen carefully when it is said that somewhere the parables are being taught and examine whether the time that Jesus promised is there? God's desire is that everyone study the statement and judge for themselves whether it agrees with the Bible.
